Send large files
Attachments fail above a fixed limit. Know the limit, then either shrink the file or send a link.
The limits (official, checked 2026-11-05)
| Service | Limit |
|---|---|
| Gmail (personal) | 25 MB; larger files become Google Drive links |
| Outlook.com | 25 MB per message (text included); OneDrive links up to 2 GB |
| Discord | 20 MB free, 50 MB Nitro Basic, up to 1 GB Nitro |
| Dropbox Plus transfers | Up to 50 GB |
Check your own files with the attachment size checker.
Option 1: Make the file smaller
- Photos: compress to a target size – 3 MB phone photos often drop to 300–500 KB with no visible loss.
- Video: use the video compression calculator to fit 20 or 25 MB.
- PDF: split into parts or remove pages you do not need.
Option 2: Send a link
Upload to cloud storage you already have (Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, pCloud) and share a link. Set an expiry date if the service offers it, and use a password for sensitive files. Check the upload time first with the transfer time calculator.
Option 3: Verify after sending
For important files such as installers or archives, send the SHA-256 hash along with the link so the recipient can confirm the download is complete with the checksum tool.
