Why “borderline” for email?
Email sends attachments as Base64 text, which makes them about 37% bigger on the wire. Providers differ in whether the limit applies before or after that, so files close to the limit can fail. If you are close, compress or send a link instead.
File too big?
- Images: compress to a target size.
- Video: calculate the bitrate to hit 20 or 25 MB.
- PDF: split it or remove pages.
- Anything: share a cloud link – see how to send large files.
Questions
Does zipping help?
Only for documents and text. Photos, videos and PDFs are already compressed, so ZIP saves very little.
Are my files read?
No. The browser only reports the file size to this page.
